I have had the privilege of photographing at North Green Snowdrops for many years and it’s always a pleasure to be with John and Diana Morley. Here are a few of the hundreds taken around the gardens.

The Auricula Collection: each photograph representing one of the 10 different types of Auricula; Self, Edged (green, grey, white), Striped, Fancy, Double, Alpine (gold centred, white centred) and Show. All the Auricula plants photographed for this collection were kindly supplied to me by Bill Lockyer of W & S Lockyer and went on to be exhibited at the Royal Horticultural Society flower shows, including the Chelsea flower show.
The ornate gold frame, void of mount is chosen to represent an Auricula theatre; a little black gold framed stage created and used by the Victorian growers to cut out interference of other plants adding further to showing off their prized, perfect and colourful Auricula specimens on the show bench. Still today you will find many Auricula plants displayed this way.
Studio lighting creates a 3D effect and museum glass is used to minimise reflections, making you feel as if you could just pick the Auricula pot up from inside its box theatre.
